Question of the Week
Q: What is the status of Senate Bill (SB) 158?
A: SB 158, sponsored by Senator David Givens, was passed by the Kentucky House and Senate and delivered to Governor Beshear on April 16. The bill was signed into law by Governor Beshear on Friday, April 24. SB 158 can be found on the Kentucky Legislative Research Commission’s website. Until the enacted version is available, choose “Current” under Bill Documents.
Among other changes, the bill impacts Kentucky’s school accountability system, changes graduation requirements, and revises criteria for determining Targeted Support and Improvement (TSI) and Additional Targeted Support and Improvement (ATSI). Amendments and implementation dates are identified within the legislation.
As a reminder, state accountability will not be reported for the 2019-2020 school year due to the COVID-19 crisis. Any changes to school accountability will begin in the 2020-2021 school year.
More information will be shared in the next Monthly DAC Webcast and future trainings
Publishing Assessment Scores in Infinite Campus (IC)
The Kentucky Department of Education (KDE) strives to publish student data results in IC as they become available. In this spirit, the Career and Technical Education End of Program (CTE EOP) scores for the 2019-2020 school year have been imported into the State Edition of IC. Publishing will allow CTE EOP scores to appear on KDE’s official eTranscripts. The national ACT scores up to and including the February 2020 test along with KYOTE testing up to April 2020, will be published.
As a reminder, ACT scores will only be published to districts that requested their scores be published.
KDE will begin publishing these scores April 29. Please email Raymond Carter with any questions
DAC Spotlight Entries
The Office of Assessment and Accountability (OAA) features District Assessment Coordinators (DACs) and their districts in the weekly Monday DAC Email. The purpose of this spotlight is to recognize both the DAC and their district for the hard work and creative efforts to help all students succeed. This has been a weekly feature in the Monday DAC Email and selections are made from across the state. For the article submission, OAA randomly selects districts. DACs are asked to describe the overall district and share something of interest to others to help students learn and be successful (this may be a good resource to share, a special event, a tip for others BACs/proctors, etc.). DACs may provide a small photo of themselves (possibly use email photo).
OAA knows that you are very busy, but we encourage participation when your request is received.
