KAS Field Test TAMs

In preparation for the upcoming Feb. 24-March 6 Kentucky Academic Standards (KAS) Online Field Test and Operational Quality of School Climate and Safety (QSCS) Survey, the Grades 3-7, 10 and 11 Test Administrator’s Manuals (TAMs) are now available. The TAMs can be accessed electronically on the PearsonAccessnext (PAN) website under Support Documentation, and will be placed on the K-PREP page on the KDE website when made 508 Compliant. Grade 8 will be posted soon.

For the KAS Online Field Test, the TAMs are only available electronically. Schools will need to print copies if desired.

Note: Test Proctors administering the paper version of the accommodated kits (Braille, large-print, audio CD/audio flash drive or text reader) will also need to print the TAM/script. A TAM will not be included in the accommodated kits.

The DAC/BAC Manual for the KAS Online Field Test will be forthcoming and available on PAN.

Creating Test Sessions Clarification

Within PearsonAccessnext (PAN), students taking the survey and online field tests should be placed into test sessions. Students taking paper assessments do not need to be assigned to test sessions.

Quality of School Climate and Safety (QSCS) Survey. The survey is administered online. All students (i.e., students with and without accommodations) in tested grades should be assigned to a test session in PearsonAccessnext for the QSCS survey.

Online Field Tests. Students taking the online content area field test (i.e., students without accommodations) in tested grades should be assigned to a test session.

Paper-based Field Tests. Student using a paper-based accommodated kit – Braille, large-print, audio CD/audio flash drive, or text reader – should NOT be placed into a content area testing session in PAN

The Office of Assessment and Accountability (OAA) wants to be clear on this distinction; it will save school and district staff time and effort.

Seal Codes for the ODW Field Test

As communicated, there is one seal code for students to enter when beginning to take the On-Demand Writing online field test at grades 5, 8 and 11. There is only one 60-minute prompt. However, when school personnel print the seal codes for on-demand writing, two seal codes are being displayed on the printed sheet. Please use the first seal code for students to enter in the seal code box in TestNav when beginning the field test. We apologize for this inconvenience.
