Grades 3, 4 and 11 Field Test TAMs Available

Test Administrator’s Manuals (TAMs) for Grades 3, 4 and 11 are now available for the Kentucky Academic Standards (KAS) Online Field Test and Operational Quality of School Climate and Safety (QSCS) Survey. The TAMs can be accessed electronically on the PearsonAccessnext (PAN) website and will be placed on K-PREP page of the KDE website, when made 508 Compliant.

The Office of Assessment and Accountability (OAA) and Pearson are providing the grades 3, 4 and 11 TAMs now. As others become available, they will be posted to PAN. For the KAS online field test, the TAMs will only be available electronically. Schools will not receive a paper copy of the TAM and will need to print copies.

Note: Test Proctors administering the paper version of the accommodated kits (Braille, large-print, audio cd/flashdrive and text reader) will need to print the TAM/script. A TAM will not be included in the accommodated kits.

The TAMs are located on the PAN landing page under Support tab> Documentation and are listed by grade.

The scripts include two options for administration

  1. Administering the Online Test by Content Area and Test Length (recommended)
  2. Administering the Online Test by Combined Content Areas.

The recommended approach is to administer the online test by content (i.e., reading, mathematics, editing and mechanics and on-demand writing) or by test length (i.e., 60-minute session and 90-minute session). Scripts are also available for combining all content areas. District or Building Assessment Coordinators will need to print the scripts that match each school’s implementation strategy.

Also, the scripts for the Quality of School Climate and Safety Survey include the following student directions, “Do your best to respond to all items. However, if you do not understand a statement or feel uncomfortable responding, you may move to the next question.” To protect our students from potentially awkward situations (especially accommodated students with a human reader), students may pass over items. Unanswered items will not impact a school’s accountability.

Please check back into the PearsonAccessnext site next week for additional field test TAMs.
