Other news: Presidential Awards for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching

Nominations are being accepted for the 2019-2020 Presidential Awards for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching. Anyone may nominate exceptional STEM teachers in grades K-6. (Awards alternate between elementary and secondary teachers.) Teachers also may self-nominate.

The president bestows up to 108 awards each year. Since the program’s inception, more than 5,000 teachers have been honored for contributions in the classroom and to their profession. (Note: The nomination deadline is March 1, while the application deadline is May 1.)

New consultant joins the Division of School and Program Improvement

We welcomed a new consultant, Elise Crisp, to KDE on Jan. 16.

Crisp will work with Title I, Part A, and Homeless/McKinney-Vento programs. She will begin transitioning into working with districts during the next few weeks. Crisp can be reached at (502) 564-3791, ext. 4038.
