KDE to host virtual media briefing on final component of School Report Card

(FRANKFORT, KY) – On Friday, Jan. 18, the Kentucky Department of Education (KDE) will open the final component of its School Report Card suite. This new component will include more charts and graphics designed to make it easier for parents and stakeholders to understand how well schools and districts are performing. The new School Report Card includes school demographics, test performance, teacher qualifications, student safety, parental involvement and more.

Under the federal Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA), each state was required to create an online school report card as part of its statewide accountability system. KDE partnered with BrightBytes to create Kentucky’s new School Report Card.

The Kentucky Department of Education’s Division of Communications will hold a virtual media briefing at 11:30 a.m. ET on Friday, Jan. 18 for members of the working media and education partners. You may connect with the webcast through the KDE Media Portal. Questions may be submitted during the news conference via KDE’s GoSoapBox app (enter access code: KDEdata), or via email to Jessica.fletcher@education.ky.gov.

No new assessment data is part of the release. The data is the same 2017-18 school year data released in the fall of 2018.

The complete School Report Card suite, with the previously released components, will be online Friday at raisethebar.education.ky.gov.
