2024 Budget Development
The Commission held its first work session on the 2024 budget this week. You can find all the department presentations and work session materials on our website. Reminder that the next budget work session is scheduled for 8 a.m. Wednesday, June 28 in the Commission Chambers at City Hall.
Newton Public Library
 Construction continues on the new library. The east half of the building steel erection is complete. The contractor will be working the remainder of the month on the west half.
Sand Creek Station Golf Course
 We are pleased to announce that Sand Creek Station was ranked the #4 best municipal golf course in Kansas, according to Golf Week! Thank you to all of our patrons and competitive athletes for your support.
This week we are also proud to host a qualifier for the Wichita Open! Beautiful weather and great players. Best of luck to them as they compete through the weekend at Crestview County Club in Wichita!
Municipal Pool
Reminder that the pool is open daily from 1-5 p.m., with family swim nights on Tuesday and Friday nights from 7-9 p.m. Lap swim is from May 31-Aug. 11, Monday/Wednesday/Friday from 6:30 to 7:30 a.m.; Monday-Friday noon-12:45 p.m.; and Tuesday and Friday from 6 to 6:45 p.m. Check out the NRC’s website for fees and additional details!
Yard of the Year
Today is the deadline to nominate for the 2023 Yard of the Year! If you’ve seen a great-looking yard in Newton, nominate it at www.newtonkansas.com/yard. Yards are judged based on appearance, creativity and overall condition, with extra points for landscapes that require less water.
