The Kansas Immunization Program (KIP) is sharing the following important updates regarding COVID-19 vaccine ordering and VFC program expectations:
COVID-19 Vaccine Ordering
2024–2025 Season
-
Pfizer: Available to order through Thursday, August 7
-
Moderna: Available to order through Friday, August 22
Please note that doses ordered and received may be short-dated.
2025–2026 Season KIP is awaiting additional guidance from CDC regarding this season’s COVID-19 vaccine availability. Updates will be shared as soon as they are received.
Non-Routine Vaccine Stocking CDC has clarified that providers are not required to routinely stock non-routine VFC funded vaccines, including:
- COVID-19
- Maternal RSV
- Mpox
- PPSV23
- Meningococcal B
If a provider site does not plan to stock non-routine VFC vaccines, there must be a process in place to ensure VFC-eligible patients can still access them. This may include referral to a nearby VFC provider, maintaining a limited on-site supply, or ordering vaccines as needed. The provider’s Vaccine Management Plan must clearly document the steps taken to ensure access.
KIP is currently updating the Policy and Procedure Manual to reflect this guidance. The updated manual will include a revised Vaccine Management Plan Template with referral guidance for sites who do not stock certain Non-Routine VFC vaccines. The updated manual will be shared with providers soon, and KIP will review the changes in detail and address any questions during the review process.
