 When applying or recertifying for benefits such as SNAP Food Assistance, Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF), or Child Care Assistance, households are required to provide proof of their circumstances to determine their eligibility.

Vocational Rehabilitation Client and Caseworkers Work Together to Achieve Goals
 July 26 was the anniversary of the signing of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). At DCF, our Rehabilitation Services programs embody this legislation every day by providing services and resources to support Kansans with disabilities.
In honor of the ADA anniversary, we want to introduce Lee, a former Pre-Employment Transition Services student and current Vocational Rehabilitation services client.
Lee’s journey with DCF’s Rehabilitation Services began in high school, when she was facing attendance struggles and bullying. It was in an individualized education program (IEP) meeting where she met Pre-ETS specialist, Robin.
Lee shared that her current education plan wasn’t working and that options such as evening and online classes would better suit her learning style.
Working with Robin made that happen, and Lee was able to not only attend her classes but graduate a year early in hopes of pursuing her dream of becoming a cosmetologist.
To reach her next goal, Lee transitioned to Vocational Rehabilitation services and counselor, Tonia. Tonia and Lee worked together to help Lee afford her tuition at Bellus Academy and provided the tools necessary to complete her cosmetology training.
Lee is now a fully licensed cosmetologist working at a local salon in Manhattan.
Lee’s story is a true testament to how hard work in collaboration with resources can make dreams come true!
Governor Kelly Signs ADA Anniversary Proclamation
 Recently, Governor Laura Kelly honored the 36th anniversary of the ADA with a proclamation signing. Among the attendees was state ADA coordinator and DCF employee, Anthony Faldale.
It was a great way to kick off honoring this impactful legislation!
 SUN Bucks benefits are available for 122 days from the date they were issued to a household’s EBT card. The date of issuance is the date on the Notice of Action letter the household receives from DCF when their benefits are approved.
Applications for 2026 SUN Bucks are still being accepted! Eligible families will receive a one-time benefit of $120 for each eligible child. Applications must be received by 5 p.m. on Aug. 31, 2026. To learn more and explore eligibility requirements, visit SUNBucks.dcf.ks.gov.
