June is Elder Abuse Awareness Month, a time to learn about and help prevent the different types of abuse, neglect and exploitation older adults may face.
Every year, thousands of older Kansans become victims of financial exploitation, jeopardizing their financial independence. The best defense for prevention is knowing your rights and educating yourself and others about what financial scams look like, and the tactics scammers use.
If you or someone you know has been scammed or may be at risk of exploitation, call the Kansas Protection Report Center hotline at 1-800-922-5330. Learn more about financial exploitation at stopscams.dcf.ks.gov.

At DCF, we believe Kansas families and individuals are stronger when they have access to the supports they need to thrive. Together Kansas events are our way of bringing local resources and opportunities to one location for community members to explore and engage with one another and find resources to help fit their needs.
Together Kansas events benefit community organizations, too! By attending a Together Kansas event in the community, organizations can gain valuable insight into what supports are available to Kansans. Having this knowledge can help when working with individuals who may need additional resources and referrals.
Join us at our next Together Kansas event in Atchison on July 21!
