About the position:
The
staff Psychiatrist is responsible for provision of medical-psychiatric care of
assigned patients at Madison State Hospital. Individual participates in
the development and implementation of clinical policies and guidelines to
assure continuous performance improvement in safety, patient care, and outcomes- Possess a Ph.D. or
Psy.D. in clinical or counseling psychology from a regionally accredited
university.
Responsibilities include:
▪ Provides patients with the quality of care consistent with
contemporary professional standards in their professional discipline.
▪ Abides by the Medical Staff Organization By-Laws, Rules and
Regulations, and Medical Staff and Hospital policies and procedures.
▪ Abides by the lawful and ethical principles of each discipline
as provided by law and professional associations.
▪ Works cooperatively and collaboratively with all medical and
non-medical staff, administration, and community agencies in order to have a
positive and therapeutic impact on patient care.
▪ Responsible for assigned patients' medical-psychiatric
diagnoses, the admission and discharge of the patient, completion of all
required admission and discharge forms, and that each patient's medical
condition will be managed and coordinated by a physician upon discharge.
▪ Assumes an active role in the education of patients, families,
and staff.
▪ Coordinates care, treatment, and services with other
practitioners and hospital personnel, as relevant to care, treatment, and
services of an individual patient.
▪ Ensures accurate, timely, and legible completion of patient's
medical record.
Preferred experience includes:
▪ Holds a degree of medicine or osteopathic medicine from a school
of medicine or osteopathic medicine that is accredited by the Liaison Committee
on Medical Education and American Medical Association or American Osteopathic
Association approved.
▪ Completse an approved post-graduate training program that is one
fully accredited throughout the time of the practitioner's training by the
Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education, by the American
Osteopathic Association, or by successor agency to any of the foregoing or by
an equivalent professionally recognized accrediting body.
▪ Holds a current valid license to practice medicine in the State
of Indiana.
▪ Holds a current valid Indiana Controlled Substance Registration
Certificate.
▪ Holds a current valid Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) number
