We appreciate your patience during this transition and look forward to working with you from our new location, which will be open to the public starting on Monday, April 5. ICJI HONORS MORE THAN 20 DRUG RECOGNITION EXPERTS AT ANNUAL CEREMONY
In March, ICJI recognized a very special group of law enforcement officers during our annual Indiana Drug Recognition Expert Awards Program. As background, a drug recognition expert is a police officer who has received specialized training to help identify drivers under the influence of drugs or alcohol. They have devoted their entire careers to putting a stop to impaired driving, and their efforts have saved countless lives over the years. In total, ICJI presented 24 awards: 18 Longevity Awards for years of service, 2 Leadership Awards for going above and beyond, 2 Emeritus Awards for contributions made in retirement, 1 Evaluation Award based on the number of DRE evaluations conducted, and 1 Ambassador Award for outside support of the program.
NEW INTERACTIVE MAP FEATURES LOCAL COORDINATING COUNCILS
Last month, the Behavioral Health Division launched a new interactive tool to help showcase Indiana’s Local Coordinating Councils. As background, an LCC is a countywide citizen body that works to address substance use at the local level. Members include volunteers from a variety of organizations including education, treatment, social services and local police. They are required to hold public meetings at least six times a year and are charged with implementing a comprehensive community plan that addresses substance use through different treatment, prevention and enforcement strategies. Using the new interactive map, members of the public can now search by county to find their coordinator’s contact information, comprehensive community plan or where/when meetings are behind held.
ICJI PRESENTS AT DATA DAY 2021
On March 25, ICJI’s Research Division was excited to be a part of Day 2 of Indiana MPH’s annual Data Day, which showcased how agencies collaborate and use data to move the state forward. This year, ICJI provided an overview of our HEA 1006 report dashboards, as well as participated in a panel discussion about how data can be used to address substance use disorder and other drug-related issues.
