CASE UPDATESA settlement agreement between the OUCC and Vectren will lead to the remediation of the A. B. Brown ash pond. The agreement includes removal of the coal ash, the sale of the ash to an out of state cement manufacturer, and use of the proceeds to offset excavation costs that could otherwise be recovered through rates. An IURC settlement hearing is scheduled in late February. The IURC evidentiary hearing on Duke Energy's rate request is set to start on Jan. 22 and continue into February. All filings and hearings are complete in the Indiana Michigan Power (I&M) rate case and Indianapolis Power & Light (IPL) infrastructure case. Orders are expected in the coming weeks. Commission orders were recently issued in the NIPSCO electric, Brown County Water, and Community Natural Gas rate cases. An IURC public field hearing in the LMH Utilities case is scheduled for Feb. 13 in Dearborn County. A field hearing request in the Aqua Indiana - Darlington case is pending.
