We are excited to announce that Judge Tanya Walton Pratt, United States District Judge, will be the keynote speaker at our Day 1 Luncheon on Tuesday, June 18, 2019, from 12:30-2 pm EST .
Judge Tanya Walton Pratt was nominated by President Barack Obama and confirmed unanimously by the United States Senate (95-0) on June 15, 2010, making her the first African-American federal judge in the State of Indiana.
From 2008 until her appointment to the bench of the District Court, Judge Pratt served as a judge in the Marion Superior Court, Probate Division. She was elected Marion County Superior Court Judge in November 1996, 2002 and 2008 and she served as Presiding Judge of the Superior Court, Criminal Division, from 1997 to 2008. She also served as Master Commissioner for the Marion County Superior Court from 1993 to 1996. Prior to her election as a Marion Superior Court Judge, she was active in private practice with the civil rights law firm Moss and Walton and later, the law firm of Walton & Pratt, focusing primarily on family law, bankruptcy, and probate law. She also served as a contract county public defender during her years of private practice.

Recognition will be given for outstanding performance in each of four categories: Freedom, Equity, Cultural Vision and Diversity and Inclusion. Winners will be recognized at an awards dinner on Wednesday, June 19, 2019, set for 6:30-8:30 PM at the Sheraton Indianapolis City Center Hotel (31 W. Ohio St. Indianapolis, IN 46204).
