APRIL 2018
APRIL IS SAFE DIGGING MONTH Before doing ANY digging, even for a small project in the yard, be sure to phone 8-1-1 or complete the form at 811now.com at least 2 business days in advance. Indiana's 8-1-1 call center is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Having the utility lines marked in your yard is a free service, and state law requires it. National Safe Digging Month is an annual reminder that it's important to have the lines marked before projects to prevent serious and even fatal accidents. Also, the underground lines in your yard may be shallower than you think.
IPL PUBLIC HEARINGS 2 IURC public field hearings are scheduled in the Indianapolis Power & Light Company (IPL) rate case: April 23 at Arsenal Tech High School and May 7 at New Augusta Public Academy - North. Each hearing starts at 6:00 p.m. and will give customers the chance to speak directly to the Commission for the case record. The OUCC continues to invite writtenconsumer comments through May 17. Our testimony in the case is due May 24.
ADDITIONAL CASE UPDATES
We are reviewing revised tariffs from the state's investor-owned utilities in the commission's investigation related to federal tax relief. The OUCC's website has updates.
We have until April 13 to file testimony on Indiana American Water Company's lead service line plan.
The rate settlement agreement among the OUCC, numerous additional parties, and Indiana Michigan Power is pending before the Commission.
SPRING CLEANING TIME It's a great idea to keep energy efficiency in mind while you do your annual spring cleaning. This includes opening your blinds and curtains to let the sunlight in, caulking around windows, setting ceiling fans to turn counter-clockwise for the summer, having your HVAC system serviced, and more. Our website, utilities, and the US Department of Energy have more tips.
