Data Day For Researchers
The details for the INK Data Day have been finalized! The event will take place on Friday, May 12th from 1:30-3:30. We have reserved conference room A in the Government Center. The event is open to all researchers, but will be focused on introducing INK to new researchers.
We'll be giving an overview of INK along with a brief demo of the potential that this data set has. We'll also get to a hear from a couple researchers that have requested data from INK. To RSVP, visit the Newsroom page of our website.
INAIR Conference
This March, members of INK presented at the Indiana Association of Institutional Researchers (INAIR) conference. They presented an overview of INK to a packed room at the Sheraton in Indy. The team talked about INK's mission, the data within INK, how to request data, and the potential we have to help researchers get the data they need. The audience asked lots of questions and showed a genuine interest in using INK and spreading the word to other researchers. After speaking with the organizer of the event, there may be potential for INK to make an appearance at the conference again in 2018.
March RAG Meeting
- The RAG members reviewed the INK "data wish list" as a group and provided recommendations and reasoning on the next set(s) of data to pursue that will enhance INK. A set of data that was discussed at length was licensing and certification data. This data set will continued to be reviewed in future meetings.
- Starting in the April meeting, INK RAG members will get back to looking at the original research questions that were used to build INK. They will work on revising them and begin to investigate which question(s) they want to pursue as a group.
Mobile app Gives Legal Guidance on Sharing Juvenile
info
The Commission on Improving the Status of Children in
Indiana has produced a free mobile app for both iOS and Android
devices. The app is populated from a 200-page legal white paper on
sharing information related to children. The app enables users in the field to
quickly determine whether they can share records, and if so, how to do it. For
example, if a youth’s probation officer wants copies of the child’s grade
reports and test scores, the app will explain under what circumstances the
records can be shared, and whether a release or a court order is required. Look
for “Information Sharing Guide” in app stores, or, for iOS devices, download
here. For Android, download here. Users may also access a desktop version by clicking here.
