MEET YOUR COUNTY COORDINATORS

krysten

Krysten Hinkle, Pulaski County

  • I am a project coordinator for the Pulaski County Community Development Commission. I handle quality-of-life and community development projects in Pulaski County.
  • While I have always been interested in the history of Indiana, and particularly Pulaski County, it came to my attention that John G. Capouch, Pulaski County Chairman of the Indiana Centennial Committee, was sent by his militia company to the Mexican Border war in 1916, thereby quashing any celebration that might have been planned in Pulaski County. It has been my mission to make up for Pulaski County’s lack of activity during the centennial by making our bicentennial celebration great!
  • My husband and I will be celebrating our 10th wedding anniversary on the day the torch relay comes through Pulaski County, so I have recruited him and our four-year-old as volunteers!
  • My hobbies include golf, canoeing, cooking, gardening and camping.
  • The most exciting thing for me is getting to see the torchbearers, who have unquestionably made Pulaski County and the State of Indiana better because of their determination, in their moment of glory.

Steve Campbell, Marion County

  • I am the Vice President of Communications at The Mind Trust, a nationally recognized education nonprofit based in Indianapolis.
  • I was formerly Deputy Mayor of Indianapolis under Mayor Bart Peterson.
  • I became county coordinator because I am an avid history buff, particularly Indianapolis history.  I became a history buff during my college internship at the Indiana State Archives in 1991.  I went onto work at the Wabash College Archives as well.
  • I also serve on the boards of Indiana Landmarks and the Benjamin Harrison Presidential Site.  I formerly served on the board of the Marion County Historical Society.
  • I'm currently researching and writing a book on Indianapolis history.
