Now Accepting 2016 Torchbearer Awards Nominations
The Indiana Commission for Women is accepting nominations for the 2016 Torchbearer Awards recognizing women who have broke barriers to women's full participation and who have made significant contributions to their communities and to Indiana. ICW releases Women as Political Candidates report based on 2016 Primary results.
The Indiana Commission for Women (ICW) has published Women as Political Candidates: 2016 Primary
Status Report, based on the May 3rd
Primaries. The report can be accessed at: http://www.in.gov/icw/files/2016_Primaries_Results.docx.pdf. As part of ICW’s
ongoing Hoosier Women Lead initiative, the report focuses on
female candidates in the U.S. House of Representatives and in the Indiana
General Assembly. Eight women competed for Indiana’s nine U.S. House District Seats,
including six Republicans and two Democrats. In state-level political races,
fifty-eight women competed for Indiana General Assembly Seats, including
thirty-nine Democrats and nineteen Republicans.
Writing Her Story receives Legacy Project Endorsement by the Indiana Bicentennial Commission
ICW earned a Legacy Project endorsement from the Indiana Bicentennial Commission for its Writing Her Story 31
Women in 31 Days. Published each March in celebration of National Women’s History Month, Writing
Her Story celebrates women's accomplishments and their contributions to Indiana history. Each profile connects to
Indiana and highlights women who have helped move Indiana women forward and who
inspire others to do great things in their own lives.
