STATEHOOD DAY 2015
Statehood
Day is an important day for Hoosiers every year. This year’s Statehood Day
might be the most important one yet. This year on Friday, Dec. 11, 2015,
Indiana celebrated its 199th birthday and kicked off the Bicentennial year!
The
celebration took place at the State House with 500 4th graders coming from all
over the state. There was music and entertainment. The Governor, First Lady and
Chief Justice Rush addressed the students. The Director of State Archives, Jim
Corridan installed the original Constitution in the Rotunda case. The
Statehood Day essay winner, Jenna Grubb from New Britton Elementary, read
her essay.
All this and
more took place at the Statehouse as Hoosiers across the state celebrated the
Bicentennial kick-off.
