2023 Performance Appraisal Process

The performance appraisal process launches Monday, Nov. 20, 2023, and starts with the employee self-assessment. 

The employee self-assessment helps employees and managers compare ratings and examples of demonstrated performance to identify any areas of strength or needed improvement, have a discussion about accomplishments and challenges, create a plan to improve performance, and provide employees recognition and coaching.

Employees can best prepare to participate in the performance appraisal process by:

  1. Setting time in their schedule to complete a self-assessment and/or draft manager assessments for staff by the below deadlines.
  2. Accessing the below training and resources to learn the process steps and best practices.
  3. Keeping track of key actions and the timeline by referring to the Performance Appraisal Action Checklist & Process Support document.

Nov. 20, 2023 | Performance appraisal launches

  • Employees can begin submitting the self-assessment.
  • Managers can begin drafting the manager assessment via the Team Overview tab (Home > Performance > Team Overview).

Dec. 10, 2023 | Employee self-assessment is due

Jan. 7, 2023 | Manager assessment is due


New Look, Same Functionality

When the Performance Appraisal launches on Nov. 20, you will notice a few visual enhancements to the form and the Performance Inbox.  Some of enhancements include:

  • a simplified look,
  • clearer confirmation, warning, and error messages, and
  • an improved Performance Inbox with the ability to search for forms by the type, employee name, process step and more.

A new job aid for navigating the enhanced Performance Inbox will be available Nov. 20 via the Performance Appraisal Action Checklist & Process Support document where you can find other relevant job aids to participate in the process.
