State of Indiana Government Services and Additional COVID-19 Measures

Beginning March 24 until at least April 7, the State of Indiana will transition all customer service operations to remote or electronic services where possible. All State of Indiana services will be reduced to essential functions only. All State of Indiana worksites will be inaccessible to the public with the exception of functions required to maintain the safety of our citizens.

  1. State agencies will provide remotely accessible government services to customers where possible and maximize the use of remote work for state employees.
  2. Online and telephone transactions, including state government call centers, will remain operational. This includes such services as unemployment insurance applications and processing and essential family & social services such as Medicaid and TANF.
  3. State employees who are able to work remotely should continue to do so.
  4. The Indiana Government Center campus in Indianapolis and State of Indiana government offices statewide will not be accessible to the public with the exception of functions required to maintain the safety of our citizens. State government offices inaccessible to the public include but are not limited to all BMV Branches and DNR State Park Inns.
  5. Essential public safety functions include but are not limited to: state hospitals, prisons, state police, child protection, health, Homeland Security, procurement, road repair, Board of Animal Health, conservation officers, and the Indiana National Guard.
  6. State employees who are working remotely or performing an onsite core function should continue to do so in coordination with their manager. Employees who are unable to perform any or a portion of their work will be paid 100% of their normal pay for those hours within the March 22 through April 4 pay period. Guidance for completing timesheets will be sent separately from this message.
  7. All state government worksites where employees remain working will continue to maintain the health and safety of the worksite. Rotations and/or staggered work schedules should be considered where applicable and used to the maximum extent possible.
  8. More information will be released soon regarding the federal Families First Coronavirus Response Act which is effective April 2.
