Fitness: Tabata classes on Statehouse's South Lawn |

Join the National Institute for Fitness and Sport (NIFS) for Tabata classes on the South Lawn of the Statehouse Tuesday, May 9. Class is noon to 12:50 p.m. There is no cost to participate and the class is open to anyone, regardless of fitness level or Tabata experience. Please RSVP here.
In case of inclement weather, the class will be in the South Atrium of the Statehouse. Please wear proper footwear for hard surfaces if this is the case. Be sure to bring your state ID badge as you will need it to enter the Statehouse.

Join INPRS for either of their Lunch and Learns offered on early planning for retirement. There’s no better time than now to begin preparing for your retirement. Both lunch and learn sessions are in IGC-S, Room 16 and start at 11:15 a.m. & 12:15 p.m. Both classes last a half hour.

As a preview to the Statehouse Market returning in 2017, head out to Robert Orr Plaza on Thursday to grab lunch from your favorite food truck. Invest In Your Health, Go365 and a few others will also be there to answer questions you may have.
Food trucks include: Wild Boar BBQ, Nacho Mama's, El Venezolano, Brozinni's Pizzeria, Serendipity, Pierogi Love Indy, Soul Sista On The Move, Greiner's Sub Shop, Groovy Guys Fries, The Flying Cupcake and Nicey Treat.

Be sure to stop by the ICAN booth on the plaza when grabbing lunch to play with and pet some of the newest ICAN recruits. The program works to train dogs for service, but first they are bringing them to our event so that you can pet and play with them. The dogs are here from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m.

Fitness 3.0: Pilates in IGC-S on Friday |

It is true that there are three fitness classes scheduled during Public Service Recognition Week. After Thursday's lunch out on the plaza, join us for a Pilates class on Friday from noon to 1 p.m. in the IGC-S Conference Room B. This class is open to anyone, regardless of fitness level or Pilates experience. This class has limited space RSVP here to save your spot.
Based on the traditional teachings of Joseph Pilates, this class builds long, lean muscles; strengthens the core; improves muscle balance and posture, while increasing coordination. It is recommended that you dress comfortably for activity and bring some water to stay hydrated. Please bring a yoga mat or beach towel if you have one. Don’t forget to sign in before the class begins!

The Statehouse Market returns to its roots for its sixth season on the redesigned Robert D. Orr Plaza. As in year's past, the farmers' market (with food trucks) occurs Thursdays from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. starting May 25.

Hop in your car and discover something new in the Hoosier State. Lieutenant Governor Suzanne Crouch and the Indiana Office of Tourism Development (IOTD) are kicking off the summer travel season with Visit Indiana Week May 7-13, part of National Travel and Tourism Week.
To start the week, May 7, you can take advantage of FREE admission at all Indiana State Parks, thanks to a partnership with the Indiana Department of Natural Resources.
“Visit Indiana Week is the perfect time to explore what our great state has to offer,” said Lt. Governor Crouch. “Indiana State Parks offer a combined 7,700 campsites and more than 150 cabins, and nearly 700 miles of hiking, biking and horseback riding trails.”

the state with Midwest Living magazine. Dubbed the Indiana Road Rally
Presented by Midwest Living magazine, Hoosiers can join the
trip on May 8, 2017 at the Big Four Bridge in Jeffersonville for a night
walk set to lights and music.
