CNN has reported that a study by the Puget
Sound Institute has found traces of oxycodone, a potent and addictive
opioid, in the tissues of mussels from Seattle area harbors. Mussels in the
area are also testing positive for seven kinds of antibiotics, five types of
antidepressants, multiple antidiabetic drugs, and a chemotherapy agent. This
further highlights the need to educate the public to refrain from flushing unused
