Juvenile Arrested for Attempted Murder

 

Perry County – Last night July 27, 2024, a dispute between two groups of juveniles resulted in the arrest of a juvenile male, of Kentucky, for Attempted Murder and several other felony offenses.

Sometime around 8 p.m., the Perry County Sheriff’s Office responded to Rainbow Lake in Derby, Indiana for the report of shots fired. During the investigation, it was discovered that two individuals had suffered suspected injuries from gunshots fired at Rainbow Lake. A third individual suffered minor injuries from broken glass. Shortly after, the Perry County Sheriff's Office located two vehicles that were involved in the shooting leaving the area. A male juvenile was arrested and transported to the Perry County Jail. The male was later transported to a juvenile facility. The Indiana State Police were contacted for the investigation into the shooting.

Two juveniles were transported to area hospitals for their injuries. This case is still under investigation. No names in this investigation are being released because most of the individuals involved are juveniles.

  1. Attempted Murder, Level 1 Felony
  2. Aggravated Battery, Level 3 Felony
  3. Battery with a Deadly Weapon, Level 5 Felony
  4. Battery Resulting in Serious Bodily Injury, Level 5 Felony
  5. Criminal Recklessness, Level 6 Felony
  6. Pointing a Firearm, Level 6 Felony
  7. Dealing Marijuana, Class A Misdemeanor
  8. Possession of Marijuana, Class B Misdemeanor

Investigating Agency: Indiana State Police

Assisting Agencies: Perry County Sheriff’s Office, Tell City Police Department, Cannelton Police Department and US Forest Service 

The Perry County Prosecutor was also on the scene.        

All suspects are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
