Indiana State Police Investigating After Skeletal Remains Found In LaGrange County

LaGrange County-The Indiana State Police is conducting an investigation after the discovery of human skeletal remains were located on April 8, 2018, in a field in rural LaGrange County.

The investigation, which is being investigated by Detective David Poe, has preliminarily indicated that in the morning hours on April 8, 2018, the skeletal remains of an unknown person were located by a property owner near 950 East and 350 South.

On April 9, 2018 a Forensic Anthropologist Team with the University of Indianapolis assisted with the recovery of the skeletal remains.  Due to the level of decomposition, immediate identification of the person was not possible.  DNA testing along with an anthropological exam will be conducted to determine the manner of death and to determine the person’s identity.

This is an ongoing investigation and no further information is available at this time.  The LaGrange County Sheriff’s Department, LaGrange County Coroner’s Office, Stroh Fire and Rescue, Indiana Search and Response Team, and University of Indianapolis Forensic Anthropologist Team are assisting Poe with this investigation.
