Discover How First Steps Supports Children
Connect with local professionals who provide a variety of services right in a child's natural environment, such as at home or in a child care classroom. First Steps is Indiana's early intervention program supporting Hoosier children from birth to their third birthday who may have developmental delays or disabilities.
How can my program benefit from First Steps?
-
Access to Specialists: Your program will collaborate with therapists and developmental experts to address children’s unique needs, improving overall care.
-
Professional Development: First Steps training and resources can help your staff build skills to support children with developmental delays.
-
Inclusive Classrooms: Integrated services create a more supportive environment that benefits all children.
-
Improved Outcomes: Early intervention enhances children’s developmental progress and classroom dynamics.
-
Family Collaboration: Your program can help families get the resources they need, build strong partnerships, and ensure children get consistent support at home and in care settings.
A child can be referred to First Steps by you, their family, or their doctor. It's easy. Once referred, a child's development is evaluated for program eligibility. There is no cost to families for referral, eligibility evaluation, or service coordination, but ongoing services may have a cost.
