The Indiana Management Performance Hub was the subject of a recent case study by the Actionable Intelligence for Social Policy (AISP) at the University of Pennsylvania. The study titled How the Indiana Management Performance Hub’s Data Capacity Helped Fuel COVID-19 Research and Response details how we assisted with the COVID-19 pandemic response in Indiana.
In the study, you can learn more about how MPH supported prevalence studies focused on the virus spread led by Indiana Department of Health and Fairbanks School of Public Health at IUPUI. It also takes an in-depth look at how MPH provided secure access for researchers, dashboards for the public to track COVID-19 and vaccination support.
“The work MPH has put into building out the State’s data infrastructure has allowed us and our partners to mobilize quickly in response to COVID-19 and use data to drive our decisions in a meaningful way,” Indiana Chief Data Officer and MPH Director Josh Martin said in the AISP study.
“The great thing is that this agile model can be used in multiple future scenarios, including guiding the State to its new normal.”

Here at Management Performance Hub, we've been tasked to promote data proficiency to Indiana's state employees. With the ever-increasing importance on data-driven decision making for state agencies to serve Hoosiers, it is important to create a culture of data proficiency across the state. So far we've sent out six lessons as part of the Data Proficiency Program for state employees.
Employees receive the monthly lesson in their inbox and can also visit our Data Proficiency Home on the MPH website to start learning. The program engages employees at all knowledge levels and shows how data impacts all of our jobs every day.
We've grouped the lessons into three series and created learning badges along the way. So far we've had over 800 state employees earn their Level 1 - Green Badge. The latest lesson started the second series for Level 2 and employees can start learning toward their blue badge.

The collection, organization and analysis of data is a part of all state employees’ daily activities. From entering customer information to monitoring weather conditions to managing budgets, data drives operations for all agencies. Quality data input and analysis at every level impacts the quality of insights we can derive. Much like the acquisition and maintenance of physical assets, increasing the awareness of the impact of data empowers our agency to better support our customers.
If you think you or your employees could benefit from these lessons, please check out our program or Contact MPH.
