On the Hub, there are now 15 datasets being used to assist the Indiana's COVID-19 response. From county-level testing and cases data to demographics and long-term care facility data, the Hub is your source for the datasets behind Indiana's COVID-19 Dashboard.
Since MPH sent its August newsletter, there have been two additional updates to the arsenal of data.
The two additions include the County Categorizations Scores and COVID-19 Census by PUI and Confirmed. We're also expecting to add additional datasets in the near future.
The County Categorizations Scores dataset powers the visualization now on the Coronavirus website that tracks the change in COVID-19 community spread week to week in Indiana counties. The county scoring map assigns each county three weekly scores for case rate, test positivity rate and overall county score.
The overall county score will help guide the Indiana Department of Health, local partners, and Hoosiers to make the best decisions possible to protect their communities and limit the spread of COVID-19.
The second addition is the COVID-19 Census by PUI and Confirmed dataset which is a weekly trend of the two types of hospitalizations (patients under investigation and confirmed). These numbers are provisional and only reflect data that has been reported to ISDH’s Emergency Management Resources database. The daily hospitalization census data represents all confirmed and PUI COVID-19 patients currently in a hospital bed on that given day.
You can also visit the MPH website for a rundown of the available COVID-19 datasets for Indiana or go directly to the COVID-19 datasets on the Hub.

Indiana’s Governor Eric Holcomb has set an ambitious goal to greatly reduce the State’s infant mortality rate and achieve the lowest rate among Midwestern states by 2024. To support these efforts, the HIMSS Indiana Chapter in coordination with Indiana Family & Social Services Administration, the Indiana Department of Health, Indiana MPH, the Regenstrief Institute, KSM Consulting, Parkview Health and BioCrossroads are conducting a virtual data challenge.
By convening students, researchers, policymakers, health care professionals and entrepreneurs across the state, the challenge propels the exploration and analysis of Indiana’s data to deliver powerful insights and innovative solutions that result in better health outcomes for Hoosier moms and babies.

Indiana MPH is seeking external researchers to partner in data initiatives. Through the MPH Research Residency Program can pursue their own projects while interacting with subject matter experts from the State. The Research Residency allows the researcher to become an agent for the State working on priority projects to improve outcomes for Hoosiers. We've posted a flyer and application on the MPH Careers and Opportunities page where you can learn more.
