Indiana Announces Revamped 2020 Indiana Quarter Horse Program

Due to casino closures and potential reduced revenues once reopened, funding available for the program decreased by approximately 43 percent, with the new projected revenue being $747,126 (as compared to $1,331,463 projected in February). COVID-19

Mare Registration Due July 1

To produce an Indiana-bred foal, the mare must reside in the state of Indiana and be registered with the Indiana Quarter Horse Breed Development program by July 1 of the year prior to foaling. The mare must remain in the state from July 1 through foaling. Mares must be registered for each foaling year.

Don't Forget: Foal Registration 

Foal registrations are due within 1 year of the foaling date to avoid late fees. However, late foals can be submitted with a late fee using the following guidelines:

12 months and 1 day to December 31st of the yearling year: $200 late fee

Please verify your foals have been registered. You can check the 2020 Foal Registration List (and other years) on our website.

The Stewards Corner: What Does a Steward Do?

In the aftermath of the 2019 Grade 1 Kentucky Derby, the spotlight shone on race stewards a little more than usual, with many people asking what exactly is a racing steward, and what do they do? At Indiana Grand Racing & Casino, there are three stewards tasked with a variety of duties to perform each day of the race meet. Responsibilities are divided amongst the three stewards daily, and it is recommended that each steward is familiar with each task and that he/she is able to handle multiple duties at any given time. Advisory for Owners Attending Races

Beginning Monday, June 15, up to two owners per horse will be allowed on the racetrack backside, subject to the provisions of the reopening plan including (but not limited to) daily temperature checks, displayed license requirements, wearing the color-coded wristband, and mask usage. Continue reading...

To get started, simply click this direct link: https://hrms.hrc.in.gov to either access the account you setup last year using your email address or establish a user profile account if you’re a first time user prior to applying. 

Should you wish to complete the process by filing a paper application, you can still download it from our website. Click on ‘Licensing’ at the left of your screen to find the paper application. You may also call either racetrack license office to request an application be mailed to you.

July 21 - $150,000 Gordon Mobley Futurity
July 23 - $100,000 Blue River Derby
August 20 - $75,000 Bob Woodard Memorial
October 3 - $100,000 Sterlie Bertram Memorial
October 3 - $75,000 Hoosier Park Classic
October 24 - $150,000 Miss Roxie Little Futurity
November 12 - $75,000 Harley Greene Derby
