Breed Development Advisory Board Meeting

There will be a regular meeting of the Thoroughbred Breed Development Advisory Committee on Monday, December 2.

WHEN: December 2, 1:30 p.m.
WHERE: Indiana Horse Racing Commission at 1302 N. Meridian Street, Indianapolis, IN 46202.
(Please use entrance off of 13th Street and proceed to Hoosier Lottery reception desk.)

The meeting is open to all and will also be live streamed on the Facebook Page.


Finding Haven for a Retired Indiana-bred Racehorse

The end of the racing season at Indiana Grand Racing & Casino sees trainers moving tack to the next track and horses either head to the farm for vacation or to the next race meet. It is also seen as the informal retirement period for racehorses.

For trainer Tim Glyshaw and his client, Ironhorse Racing Stable LLC, it was time to consider a new career for Indiana-bred Havenhill, a 3-year-old gelding by Run Away and Hide and out of the Dixie Union mare, Holladay Dixie.

“It’s not that he’s a failure at racing--he’s had success on the track,” says Harlan Malter, principal for Ironhorse Racing Stable LLC. “You can just tell Havenhill is meant for life off the track. Our mission was to retire him sound and happy, and we have.” Continue reading...

2020 Foaling Season Barn Database

Foaling and breeding season is almost here. The IHRC website has a list of farms in Indiana that are open to receiving mares and/or stallions wishing to participate in our program. Participation in this list is voluntary: contact Megan with your farm information if you wish to be on the list.
