IHCDA COVID-19 update: A message from Jake

The US Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) announced this week that they have extended the Federal Housing Administration’s (FHA) eviction and foreclosure moratoriums on federally backed single family mortgages through March 31, 2021.

In Indiana, assistance remains available for homeowners who are having difficulty making their mortgage payment. More information can be found at: www.877gethope.org.

The Centers for Disease Controls and Prevention (CDC) announced this week that they have also extended the current order temporarily halting residential evictions until at least March 31, 2021. More information about the CDC’s halt in residential evictions, including a list of frequently asked questions, can be found here.

As I shared in last week’s note, we are working closely with the US Department of Treasury on their new Emergency Rental Assistance (ERA) program. They released a list of frequently asked questions this week to provide additional guidance on the program requirements.

Anyone interested in receiving updates about the ERA program, and notification of when the application will become available in Indiana, should subscribe to receive updates. A link to subscribe is located on the top banner of www.indianahousingnow.org.

Speaking of www.indianahousingnow.org, I want to remind landlords to post their available rental units on this website. It is a free to list them. The dynamic search options allow individuals to quickly search for available affordable, accessible, and market-rate housing throughout Indiana.

I also want to encourage landlords and renters with rental assistance applications still in progress with us to get any outstanding documents turned in as soon as possible. We are working diligently to complete each of these applications before we launch the new ERA program. Thank you to everyone for your patience, partnership, and support as we assist Hoosier renters in need of assistance.

Please continue to reach out to me, or any member of the IHCDA team, if there is anything we can do to help you and your organization. We are #INthistogether.
