IHCDA COVID-19 update: A message from Jake

I am proud that we, along with our statewide network of partners, have been able to assist thousands of Hoosier households during the COVID-19 pandemic with paying their rent, mortgage, and utilities.

While applications are still being accepted for each of these programs, limited funding is available. More information and links to apply can be found below.

Please note: The text that is bold and underlined below is hyperlinked. Clicking on these words will take you to a webpage where you can find additional information.

  • Rental Assistance
    • State’s Rental Assistance Portal – Is still accepting applications for rental assistance from qualifying Indiana renters living outside of Marion County.
    • IndyRent Assistance Portal – Marion County residents that are having a hard time paying rent can apply through the IndyRent Assistance Portal.
  • Mortgage Assistance – Indiana’s Hardest Hit Fund (HHF) is available to help Indiana homeowners who have fallen behind on their mortgage payments or who are unable to make future payments.
  • Energy Assistance – Applications are being accepted for the Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP). LIHEAP provides a one-time annual benefit to help with the high cost of home energy. An additional $350 CARES Act benefit is also available to qualifying households experiencing a reduction in income due to COVID-19.

Our focus at IHCDA is to ensure equal access and transparency for each program we administer. Which is why I am pleased to share with you a progress report on COVID-19 rental assistance.

This report, which we plan to update bi-weekly and post on our website, will provide an update on the rental assistance funding that has been distributed to participating landlords on behalf of their eligible tenants that applied. This includes information on the state's COVID-19 Rental Assistance Program as well as the Emergency Solutions Grant CARES Act (ESG-CV) rental assistance program.

As always, I want to thank you for your continued partnership and support to help Hoosiers in need. If there is anything we can do to help you and your organization please don't hesitate to reach out to me or any member of the IHCDA team. We're #INthistogether.
