IHCDA COVID-19 update: A message from Jake
Lt. Gov. Suzanne Crouch announced last week the Community Connections for People with Disabilities (CCPWD) grant opportunity. This program is being offered through a partnership between the Indiana Office of Community and Rural Affairs (OCRA) and the Indiana Division of Disability and Rehabilitative Services (DDRS).
The program’s goal is to help develop innovative technology strategies and cultivate strong community partnerships to address the negative social, economic, and health effects of COVID-19 on Hoosiers with disabilities and increase community and workplace inclusion for this population.
Eligible applicants include a local unit of government, which are counties, cities, or incorporated towns, both entitlement and non-entitlement communities. Applicants must partner with a qualifying developmental disability non-profit organization that serves adults (18 and older) with disabilities within the geographical area.
Applications will open Friday, Oct. 23. For more program information click here.
I commend OCRA Interim Executive Director Matt Crouch and DDRS Director Kylee Hope and their teams for partnering to create this new grant program. I encourage local units of government to consider partnering with a qualifying developmental disability non-profit organization to apply for this grant.
We’ve heard from many Hoosiers just how valuable the www.indianahousingnow.org website has been during the COVID-19 pandemic. I am proud that this tool has been so helpful as Indiana residents look for affordable rental housing options and other housing resources.
For Hoosiers seeking local resources of all varieties, I encourage them to call 2-1-1 to connect with a navigator 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Resource information can also be found on their website.
If you or someone you know is experiencing grief, stress, depression, and worry I encourage you to visit www.bewellindiana.com. This new website was designed to help Hoosiers across our state stay connected and maintain their well-being during this difficult time.
As always, please contact me or a member of the IHCDA team if there is anything we can do to assist you or your organization. We are #INthistogether.
J. Jacob Sipe Executive Director
