IHCDA continues to monitor the situation with COVID-19 in Indiana as circumstances change and additional information becomes available. To provide transparency and customer service, IHCDA will update this list with any new policies/procedures as they become available. These updates will be provided on a weekly basis for the foreseeable future.

New Resources

  • Interested in providing tablets and/or internet access to your clients as part of your COVID-19 response? Check out this video about a community outreach program run in partnership with T-mobile. Ask Emily if you want direct contact information so you can explore doing something similar in your communities.
  • One-day workshop on Uniform Guidance regulations from the Community Action Partnership. Review the regulations you need to know to stay in compliance through examples, stories, and best practices learned from years of auditing and consulting. Take back up-to-date and relevant information to implement immediately in your agency. Click here to learn more and register.

Reminders for Subgrantees

CSBG

  • Updated CARES Act Community Action Plans and Needs Assessments are due on Monday, August 3rd.

  • The 2021/2022 State Plan draft is posted here. Agencies can send comments to Veronica at vwatson@ihcda.in.gov, and/or attend either of the following meetings; email Veronica for log-in information

    • A public hearing is scheduled for Thursday, August 20 at 2pm ET

    • A network-only discussion is scheduled for Tuesday, August 11 at 10am ET

IDA

  • 2020 awards were announced Thursday, July 23; contracts are going out this week for e-signature.
  • A webinar is scheduled for Tuesday, August 11 at 2pm ET, which is recommended not only for IDA020 awardees but also any IDA staff that are new to the program or need a refresher. You can register for that here.

EAP 

  • EAP applications are to be accepted through tomorrow, July 31, 2020 (in person acceptance until COB, and online acceptance through 11:59pm).
  • All EAP applications must be processed, benefits awarded, and transmittals sent by August 14th.
  • As long as a signed application is turned in by July 31, applicants may submit any missing supporting documentation until August 14th. This includes for the CARES Act benefit.

Weatherization 

  • If a client's home requires an emergency health and safety repair, regardless of household residents' age or medical status, please send a request to cbogue@ihcda.in.gov for a waiver to address that issue. 

Resources

  • Need a refresher on CSBG, or have new CSBG staff? Watch CAPLAW's Introduction to CSBG Training Module.
  • Serving families with young children? Don't forget about On My Way PreK, which awards grants to 4 year olds from low-income families so that they may have access to a high-quality pre-K program the year before they begin kindergarten.

Census 2020

Agencies are encouraged to continue outreach to ensure their clients are counted in the 2020 Census. Given the impact that COVID-19 is having on in-person interactions, agencies should direct their clients to the online questionnaire here: https://my2020census.gov/. Additional resources related to the Census can be found below:
