IHCDA COVID-19 update: A message from Jake

As I’ve shared in previous notes, we have received funding through the CARES Act for several existing programs that we administer here at IHCDA. Those awards can be found on our COVID-19 Resources page: https://www.in.gov/ihcda/coronavirus.htm.

Recently, thanks in large part to the efforts of our Community Services and Housing Choice Voucher (HCV) program teams, we have released information on several rental assistance programs to assist our most vulnerable Hoosiers.

Through the ESG program, we released two grant applications last week:

More information about the ESG program applications can be found by clicking here.

We announced the availability of funding for two other rental assistance programs earlier this week through the HOME Investment Partnership program (HOME) Tenant Based Rental Assistance (TBRA) program and the Indiana Housing First program.

HOME TBRA focuses on providing rental assistance for formerly incarcerated individuals.

The Indiana Housing First Program, established in 2017 by state law, was created to provide rental assistance and supportive services to individuals and families with a serious and persistent mental illness, a chronic chemical addiction, or a serious and persistent mental illness with a co-occurring chemical addiction, who are also facing a housing crisis, exiting a residential treatment program with access to affordable housing and supportive services.

More information about how eligible organizations can submit their Request for Qualifications (RFQ) for the 2020 HOME TBRA and 2020 Indiana Housing First programs can be found by clicking here.

In addition to our team, which I am very proud of, I want to take a moment to acknowledge our partners and sub-grantees. The work we do would not be possible without your continued support and collaboration. Thank you for all you are doing to help during this unprecedented time of need.

In other news this week, the Federal Housing Administration (FHA) announced a two-month extension of its foreclosure and eviction moratorium through August 31, 2020, for homeowners with FHA-insured Single Family mortgages. I encourage all Indiana homeowners in need of assistance paying their mortgage payment to visit: www.877gethope.org.

Please continue to reach out to any member of our team, or myself directly jsipe@ihcda.in.gov or (317) 233-1811, if we can do anything to help you and your organization. We are #INthistogether.
