Teams Announced for the 10th Annual Indiana Supportive Housing Institute

The Indiana Housing and Community Development Authority (IHCDA) and Corporation for Supportive Housing (CSH) announced the six teams that will be participating in the 2019 Indiana Supportive Housing Institute. These teams will each establish a plan to create a supportive housing development serving either homeless veterans or individuals experiencing chronic homelessness.

Gleaners

Gleaners provides a helping hand to Hoosiers facing homelessness

Gleaners Food Bank of Indiana has a long history of helping Hoosiers. With a mission of “leading the fight against hunger” they jumped at the opportunity to assist with the 2019 Point-in-Time Count in Indiana. In total, Gleaners and their staff provided enough items for 1,500 care packages that went to Hoosiers experiencing homelessness that were distributed by regional Point-in-Time coordinators.

CSH Supportive Housing Summit 2019

CSH, a recognized leader in supportive housing solutions, is hosting its CSH Summit 2019 in Indianapolis on April 30 – May 2, 2019. CSH selected Indianapolis for their national summit in part because of its long-standing presence in Indiana and the annual Supportive Housing Institute. Professionals working in affordable housing, medical and mental healthcare, education, IDD, child welfare, justice reform, addiction treatment, homelessness response and community planning are encouraged to attend. CreatINg Places Update

There were two CreatINg Places crowdfunding campaigns that were launched in January (listed below). Both campaigns are attempting to raise $50,000. If they meet their goal, they will receive matching funds from IHCDA.

Since the CreatINg Places program began in 2016, more than 60 projects have generted just under $2 million in public funds and an additional $1.7 million in matching IHCDA funds. Please contact Carmen Lethig, Placemaking Manager, at clethig@ihcda.in.gov for more information.

Energy Assistance Program

The 2018-2019 Winter Assistance Program, through the Low Income Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP), continues to accept applications. Interested individuals should contact their local community-based organization to apply.

2020-2021 Qualified Allocation Plan

The first draft of the 2020-2021 QAP was released last week and is available by going to IHCDA’s website. IHCDA will also accept written comments on the 1st draft, which can be forwarded to the attention of Alan Rakowski, Rental Housing Tax Credit Manager at 30 S. Meridian Street, Suite
