Training Opportunity

The Indiana Housing and Community Development Authority will partner with the Office of Community and Rural Affairs (OCRA) and the Fair Housing Center of Central Indiana (FHCCI) to provide nine fair housing rental basic trainings across the state. FHCCI will provide their expertise on the following topics: fair housing regulations and guidance, advertising requirements, and disability specific regulations. The workshop is FREE to all attendees and open to the public. Advanced registration is required. Visit https://www.fhcci.org/events/ to register. Summer Cool Program

The Summer Cool Program runs until August 24, 2018. This year, the Summer Cool Program will provide a $210 credit to eligible households served during the winter months to use towards their electric bill.

2019 Administrative Plan Open for Public Comment

The Administrative Plan for IHCDA’s Housing Choice Voucher (Section 8) Program is open for public comment effective August 1, 2018 through September 17, 2018. Input from program partners and the general public will be considered when revising the Administrative Plan before submission to the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development for approval.

HHF Update

On July 1st we started accepting applications for one-time mortgage reinstatement-only assistance to qualifying applicants.

Indiana homeowners who have fallen behind on their mortgage payments due to an involuntary loss of employment or reduction in employment income may be eligible for up to $30,000 in reinstatement-only assistance. To be elgible for assistance, homeowners must be in a position to make their current mortgage payment. Click here for more information.

MCMV

Now Accepting Applications for the 2018-2019 MCMV Program

We are now accepting applications for the 2018-2019 My Community, My Vision (MCMV) program. Each participating community will receive $5,000 to implement a project developed in the planning process that involves high school students, graduate students from IUPUI's School of Public and Enviornmental Affairs (SPEA) and local government leadership. Two new CreatINg Places program campaigns have launched recently. Interested in starting a project in your community? Click here for more information.

Kids on Wheels: Brown County Skate Park (Nashville, Indiana)
For generations, Brown County teens have felt a void from a lack of public space. With a successful CreatINg Places campaign, a skate park and conversation areas will be coming to Nashville.

5th Street Commons (Marion, Indiana)
Downtown Marion is thriving! This project will build on this revitalization by taking empty space across from the Centrum building and turning it into a community gathering space right in the heart of downtown.

A Town Arts

A Town Arts Grand Opening

Hundreds gathered recently for the grand opening of A Town Arts. The new facility located in Downtown Anderson was awarded a matching grant through IHCDA's CreatINg Places program. A Town Arts provides free studios to artists who use their skills in community-based projects that benefit Anderson and Madison County.

Call for Nominations: Lt. Governor's Excellence in Affordable Housing Awards

There is still time to submit nominations for the most outstanding properties in four categories for the Lt. Governor's Excellence in Affordable Housing Awards. These awards, which will be presented at the 2018 Indiana Housing Conference, celebrate the best in Indiana affordable housing development. All award nominations are due by August 15, 2018.
