My Community, My Vision (MCMV) Finale

On Thursday, April 12th, we were pleased to join student groups from four Indiana communities for the presentation of their community vision plans at the 2017-2018 My Community, My Vision (MCMV) final event. Student groups represented the communities of Englewood, Irvington, LaPorte, and Logansport.

Five New CreatINg Places Campaigns Launched

Five new CreatINg Places campaigns have launched through the crowdfunding platform developed by Patronicity. The latest campaigns are for the Middlefork Reservoir in Richmond, Kimmel Park Riverfront Playground in Vincennes, Monticello Walk-Through in Monticello, the Boonville Trail Head in Boonville, and the All Things Art Workshop in Gary, Indiana.

Kennedy King Memorial Gains National Recognition

On April 4th, Governor Eric Holcomb was joined by state and local officials for the commemoration ceremony of the Landmark for Peace at the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Park. The site has now been designated a Commemorative National Landmark and was part of our CreatINg Places program through the Kennedy King Memorial Initiative.

Village of Hope Grand Opening

On April 17th we joined our partners from TWG for the Grand Opening of Village of Hope. This development brings 40 units of permanent supportive housing to Gary, Indiana.

M. Fine on Spring Open House

We visited Jeffersonville, Indiana on April 23rd to celebrate the Grand Opening of M. Fine on Spring. This development provides 51 units of affordable housing for seniors, as well as a number of services for on-site care from New Hope Services and others.

The spring issue of IHCDA…the Magazine is now available. This issue features Tyler Karst of Wabash Marketplace, Inc. on the cover at the site of the first completed CreatINg Places project: the Wabash Riverfront Plaza.

Preserving Historic Places Conference

More than 200 people attended the 49th Annual Preserving Historic Places Conference earlier this month in Columbus. A highlight of the four-day conference was a one-day exercise to suggest new designs and adaptable uses for two vacant but historically significant buildings in Columbus.

Fair Housing Conference

Fair Housing Conference

In April, organizations from across the state joined the Fair Housing Center of Central Indiana for the Fair Housing Conference. Workshops focused on ways to ensure equal housing opportunities for Hoosiers.

Energy Assistance Program Deadline Extended

Hoosiers in need of assistance paying their winter heating bills can still sign up for the Low Income Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP). The winter assistance period, which began November 1st, offers qualifying Hoosiers a one-time payment to use towards their heat and electric bills. The deadline to apply has been extended until June 1, 2018.

The 2018 Indiana Housing Conference will take place September 26-27, 2018 at the Marriott Indianapolis in Downtown Indianapolis. The Annual IHCDA Charity Golf Outing will take place September 25, 2018. More details and registration information will be released soon.
