Interest in Education Program

The Interest in Education program seeks to defer existing annual interest payments on IHCDA Development Fund loans to CollegeChoice 529 accounts held by eligible residents of the affordable housing properties or a sponsored cohort of 21st Century Scholar students located in the community of the developer’s property. Moving Forward Workshop

Moving Forward Workshop in East Chicago

We partnered with Energy Systems Network (ESN)  to conduct an intensive two-day workshop as part of the Moving Forward 3.0 Program in November. Miller-Valentine Group and UP Development worked closely with subject matter experts, local leaders and former residents of the West Calumet Housing Complex in the workshop, which served as the next step in providing two new affordable housing developments in Lake County.

2017 Stellar Communities Hold Stellarbrations

In November, the City of Madison and the Town of Culver held "Stellarbrations" to celebrate their status as the 2017 Designees of the Stellar Communities Designation Program (SCDP).

New Crowdfunding Campaigns Launched

Rainforest Play Park and the Kennedy Park Kennedy King Memorial Initiative are the latest campaigns to launch through the CreatINg Places program on the platform developed by PatronicitySince the CreatINg Places program began in the fall of 2016, over 30 projects have raised in excess of $900,000 in public funds and leveraged an additional $1.8 million making for over $2.7 million in total project investment.

IHCDA joined Lt. Governor Suzanne Crouch and housing affiliates from across the state for the 2017 Habitat Indiana State Conference, hosted by Habitat for Humanity of Indiana.

In November we participated in the Affordable Housing Association of Indiana's (AHAIN) Annual Conference. The conference featured sessions with industry experts and was held in downtown Indianapolis.

Romweber

Portrait Exhibit travels to Romweber in Batesville

Last week the Portraits of the Human Spirit: A Sense of Place exhibit concluded its journey at Romweber Flats in Batesville. A community event was held November 20th to close the exhibit at Romweber Marketplace. The event was sponsored by Fifth Third Bank with support from the Indiana Affordable Housing Council, Indiana Arts Commission and the Rural Alliance for the Arts.

2017-2018 Winter Assistance Program

The 2017-2018 Winter Assistance Program, through he Low Income Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) began November 1st and concludes May 18, 2018.

Applications are being accepted by community-based organizations under contract with IHCDA. These 22 community organizations referred to as "Local Service Providers" (LSPs) cover all 92 Indiana counties. Individuals seeking assistance can apply in person, on-line here, through the mail-in or at another subcontractor at the location that services their county.
