2017-2018 Winter Assistance Program Begins November 1st

The 2017-2018 Winter Assistance Program, through he Low Income Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) begins Nov. 1st and concludes May 18, 2018.

Beginning November 1st, applications will be accepted by community-based organizations under contract with IHCDA. These 22 community organizations referred to as "Local Service Providers" (LSPs) cover all 92 Indiana counties. Individuals seeking assistance can apply in person, on-line here beginning November 9th, through the mail-in or at another subcontractor at the location that services their county.

The Interest in Education program seeks to defer existing annual interest payments on IHCDA Development Fund loans to CollegeChoice 529 accounts held by eligible residents of the affordable housing properties or a sponsored cohort of 21st Century Scholar students located in the community of the developer’s property. Support for Displaced Individuals from Hurricanes Harvey, Irma and Maria

IHCDA, in accordance with Revenue Procedures 2014-49 and 2014-50, has permitted all owners of low-income housing tax credit (“LIHTC”) properties within the state to provide temporary emergency housing to displaced individuals affected by Hurricanes Harvey, Irma and Maria. We are also reminding property owners to make sure their listings are updated in the Indiana Housing Now website and through the IHCDA Online Management System tenant event reporting.

2017 Stellar Communities Designees Announced

Lt. Governor Suzanne Crouch announced in October that the City of Madison and the Town of Culver are the 2017 Designees of the Stellar Communities Designation Program (SCDP). Launched in 2011, the SCDP is a multi-agency partnership designed to recognize Indiana's smaller communities that have identified comprehensive community and economic development projects and activities as well as next steps and key partnerships.

CreatINg Places Logo

New Crowdfunding Campaigns Launched

Three new campaigns have launched through the CreatINg Places program on the platform developed by Patronicity: The Trolley of Evansville Districts, Cottage Grove Avenue Park, and Lift Indy: Monon 16. So far the program has provided $612,000 in matching funds to 24 projects across Indiana.

2017 Owner Occupied Rehabilitation Awards Announced

At the IHCDA board meeting in September, awards totaling $2.7 million to 14 Indiana municipalities were approved for the development and implementation of Community Development Block Grants (CDBG) Owner Occupied Rehabilitation (OOR) projects. The funding will assist an estimated 121 Indiana households.

It was a beautiful day for the Pre-Enactment Theatre CreatINg Places project in the Monon 16 neighborhood of Indianapolis. The 12-month-long series of community visioning sessions and creative placemaking activities along 16th Street culminated in a huge, day-long public event on October 7, 2017.

The Continuum of Care for the Indiana Balance of State hosted the Fall 2017 Development Day on October 20th, featuring a series of sessions/programs around the topic of "Navigating Addiction issues in Housing." Sessions included an all-day event called "CE Blitz" which focused on Coordinated Entry.

IHCDA Receives NCSHA Award

IHCDA received a national award recently for State Advocacy at the Annual National Council of State Housing Agencies (NCSHA) Conference and Showplace held in Denver, Colorado October 14-17, 2017. The Housing First program, which will be announced in January, will provide housing for chronically homeless Hoosiers suffering from chemical addiction.
