IHCDA Board of Directors Meeting in Tell City

River Pointe

IHCDA took the September Board of Directors meeting yesterday on the road to Tell City. The meeting was held at the Tell City Depot followed by a tour of River Pointe Apartments. The next Board of Directors meeting will be held on October 26, 2017 in Batesville, Indiana.

Response to Hurricane Irma- Emergency Housing Relief Authorization

In accordance with Revenue Procedures 2014-49 and  2014-50, IHCDA is permitting all owners of low-income housing tax credit (“LIHTC”) properties within the State of Indiana to provide temporary emergency housing to displaced individuals affected by Hurricane Irma.

In September we joined our partners at LIFEDesigns to celebrate the grand opening of LIFEDesigns at McKinley in Columbus, Indiana, which provides 8 support living units for individuals with developmental or physical disabilities in Columbus.

Posterity Heights Groundbreaking

Posterity Heights Groundbreaking

In September we joined Lt. Governor Suzanne Crouch, state and local officials, and our partners from BWI, LLC and Joshua's Hand for the groundbreaking on the first Moving Forward development in Indiana. Posterity Heights in Fort Wayne, Ind. is a multi-phased development that will provide net-zero housing, electric car sharing, an on-site early childhood learning center, education and job opportunities, healthy food and other amenities. The development is designed to provide traditional and single parents a path to self-sufficiency.

Warsaw Alley

CreatINg Places Program Celebrates Ribbon Cutting for The Alley

A ribbon cutting was held for the Alley, a CreatINg Places project in Warsaw, Indiana last week. The project is one of the many crowdfunding campaigns which have launched through the platform developed by Patronicity. To date, 24 projects have raised over $800,000 which have been matched by over $600,000 in IHCDA funds.

MCMV

MCMV Participants Announced

The 2017-18 My Community, My Vision (MCMV) program is now underway following a kick-off event last week in Fishers. Local Units of Governments (LUGs), with help from young adults in LaPorte, Cass County, Logansport and two Indianapolis groups, were selected to participate in this year’s program and will develop formal and detailed plans with support from the Ball State University’s School of Urban Planning and the Indiana Housing and Community Development Authority (IHCDA).

Jacob Sipe

Jacob Sipe presented with the William A. Crawford Public Service Award

In September, IHCDA's Executive Director, Jacob Sipe, was presented  with the William A. Crawford Public Service Award by the Coalition for Homelessness Intervention and Prevention (CHIP). The award is named in honor of State Representative Bill Crawford, a public servant dedicated to advocating for those experiencing homelessness in Indianapolis, and was presented at the Annual CHIP Celebration for his efforts in passing legislation on the Housing Trust Fund (HTF).
