Gary Preservation Tour

Gary Preservation Tour Reaches Funding Goal

The Gary Preservation Tour campaign, launched through the crowdfunding platform Patronicity, has met its funding goal. Meeting the crowdfunding goal of $7,500 means the project wins a matching grant with funds made possible by IHCDA's CreatINg Places program. Through the project, residents and visitors to the City of Gary will get a behind-the-scenes look at some of the most important historic structures in downtown Gary.

MLK Hesburgh Monument

Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. & Father Hesburgh Monument Reaches Funding Goal

The City of South Bend launched a campaign through Patronicity to erect a monument depicting the famous photograph of Father Hesburgh and Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. holding hands while singing "We Shall Overcome" at a civil rights rally in Chicago in 1964. The project has met its funding goal. The monument will be sculpted by local sculptor, educator and writer Tuck Langland whose work has appeared in hundreds of art shows and is on permanent display across the country and internationally.
