‘Tis the season for giving, and IHCDA was honored to present a $53,000 check from our 2016 Charity Golf Outing to The Villages, Indiana’s largest not-for-profit child and family services agency. The organization serves over 1,400 children and their families each day.

Campaign Flats Ribbon Cutting

Campaign Flats Apartments
Ribbon Cutting

IHCDA attended the recent ribbon cutting for Campaign Flats Apartments – a seven unit senior apartment building, located in downtown Rushville. Southern Indiana Housing and Community Development Corporation, an IHCDA Community Housing Development Organization (CHDO), was granted $581,000 of HOME funds to rehabilitate the former Salvation Army building. In addition to the apartment units, Campaign Flats will also house a non-profit bookstore. Campaign Flats is the first of several projects proposed for downtown Rushville as the City of Rushville was named one of two 2016 Designees of the Stellar Communities Designation Program.

Rock City Lofts

Rock City Lofts

Ground Breaking

Rock City Lofts provides new multi-generational, multi-income downtown housing opportunities through a 40-unit apartment renovation on the second and third floors of a historic downtown building on the southwest corner of Huntington and Market Streets. The Rock City Lofts building has been of interest by many developers over the years and the owners of the building have been looking for an interested buyer to redevelop the building into residential units. In the summer of 2013, the City of Wabash Redevelopment Commission, Partnership for Affordable Housing, House Investments, and Huntington Bank developed a partnership that solidifies $8 million in equity through the use of Low Income Housing Tax Credits (LIHTC) and Historic Tax Credits. This partnership submitted an application in November 2013. There is a market for apartments for seniors and for young professionals given all the amenities and activities downtown. This project will set the tone, jumpstart, and solidify the apartment market in downtown Wabash.

Artist Lofts

Artspace Uptown Artists Lofts

Grand Opening

Two years ago, Artspace Uptown Lofts was one of 15 developments that were awarded funding as part of the highly competitive LIHTC program. Artspace Uptown Lofts' 44 units joins the list of affordable rental housing options in Indiana, and to the impressive portfolio of Artspace. This mixed-use development provides not only affordable live/work units for artists and their families, but provides a ground floor studio and commercial space located within the Uptown Arts District.

Ryan Hamlett

Real Estate Staffing Update

Please welcome your new Southeast RED Production Analyst Ryan Hamlett.

Hello! I’m Ryan Hamlett. This past May, I finished up my Masters in Historic Preservation at Ball State. Prior to that, I double majored in Communications and Studio Art at Indiana University, focusing on Film Production and Painting/Photography. I am an Indianapolis native who graduated from Lawrence North. Though I’ve lived in Chicago and New York (the photo is me working with the NYC Park Department’s Monument Conservation Program last summer, in an 160 foot lift above the Soldiers’ and Sailors’ Arch in Grand Army Plaza, Brooklyn), Indianapolis has always called me back.
