Winter EAP Season Starts Tomorrow
The 2016-17 Winter Assistance Program through the Low Income Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) begins
November 1, 2016 and concludes March 12, 2017. Community-based organizations who are
designated by federal regulation and under contract with IHCDA can begin
accepting applications on November 1st. These 22 community
organizations cover all 92 Indiana counties.

Corydon and Rushville Host Stellarbrations
In October, the Town of Corydon and the City of Rushville each hosted local Stellarbrations to commemorate their selection as the 2016 Stellar Communities Designees. Lt. Governor Holcomb announced
the 2016 Stellar Communities Designees during the state’s Stellarbration in
August at the State Fairgrounds.

CreatINg Places
IHCDA has announced the start of an exciting new initiative
called CreatINg
Places. CreatINg Places is a collaborative effort between IHCDA and Patronicity
in which residents can use “crowdgranting” to be part of the development of
strategic projects in their communities and be backed with a matching grant
from IHCDA. “CreatINg Places aims to help generate public involvement in the
selection of creative improvements within their own communities, help provide
the funding to see the project through completion, and instill community pride
when citizens become invested in their surroundings,” said Jacob Sipe,
Executive Director of IHCDA.

2016-2017 My Community, My Vision Program
The 2016-17 My Community, My Vision (MCMV) program is now
underway following a kick-off event in Fishers. Local Units of Government (LUGs),
with help from young adults in Greenfield, Greensburg, Crawfordsville and
Shelbyville, selected to participate in this year’s program, will develop formal
and detailed plans with support from the Ball State University’s School of Urban Planning
and IHCDA.

Celebrating 40 Years of the WAP
2016 marks the 40 year anniversary of the Weatherization Assistance Program (WAP). On October 12 IHCDA hosted a statewide celebration commemorating the anniversary. “We are fortunate to have an outstanding network of Community Action Agencies
(CAAs) that weatherize homes year
round throughout Indiana," said Jacob Sipe, Executive Director
at IHCDA. "Their hard work and commitment has allowed us to provide
energy and cost savings to thousands of low-income Hoosiers over the past
40 years."

Celebrating 30 Years of LIHTC
On October 21, IHCDA held a statewide celebration commemorating the anniversary of the Low-Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC) program. Millikan on Mass, which is part of the Barton Block operated by Insight
Development Corporation, was the site of the Statewide Celebration. At
the 2016 Indiana Housing Conference, the Barton Block received the Lt. Governor's Excellence in Affordable Urban Housing award for their unique mix of commercial businesses, market rate and affordable housing.
