NextLevel Jobs Open House for Job Seekers and Employers to be Hosted at Hobart's Southlake Mall
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
INDIANAPOLIS (March 1, 2018) —
The Indiana Department
of Workforce Development, in partnership with the City of Hobart and the Northwest
Indiana Workforce Board, is hosting an open house for the state’s NextLevel
Jobs initiative on March 22. The event, from 10 a.m. -2 p.m. CDT, will be held
at the Hobart Police Substation in the Southlake Mall in Hobart, Ind.
NextLevel Jobs, an
initiative launched by Indiana Gov. Eric Holcomb in August 2017, features two training
grants – the Workforce Ready Grant, which is geared towards upskilling individuals for high-demand, high-wage jobs in critical industries, and the Employer Training Grant, which reimburses employers for training new employees. The grants are designed
to equip the state’s current and future workforce with training and skill
development. NextLevel Jobs focuses on high-demand, high-wage jobs that need to
be filled in high-priority industry sectors.
“These high-demand,
high-wage jobs will require training beyond a high school education for Hoosiers
needed to fill them,” said DWD Commissioner Fred Payne. “NextLevel Jobs helps individuals
obtain the training they need to advance their career and offsets the cost of
training for employers looking to train and retain new employees.”
More information about both grants, job demand and
other related information can be found at http://www.nextleveljobs.org.
The
first hour of the event from 10-11 a.m. CDT will be a private opportunity for employers
to discuss the Employer Training Grant with DWD staff. All local employers are welcome, but
registration is required. To register,
go to https://calendar.in.gov/site/dwd/event/nextlevel-jobs-open-house-hobart/.
From 11 a.m. -2 p.m.
CDT, the public is invited to attend and meet with both DWD and CHE staff to
learn more about both grants. Brief presentations will be held at 11 a.m., noon
and 1 p.m. CDT, followed by one-on-one Q&A sessions. Tablets will be available for the public for
those who wish to complete and submit an online application while on-site.
Representatives from
both Ivy Tech Community College and Vincennes University, both eligible training
providers for NextLevel Jobs, will also be on hand to provide information and
answer questions about the programs they
offer.
