INDIANAPOLIS (April 12, 2017) – The Department of Workforce Development (DWD) and its WorkOne Career Centers hosted their biennial WorkOne Achievement Awards on Tuesday, April 11, 2017, at the Statehouse. The ceremony recognized the success of Hoosier employees and employers who have received services through WorkOne. St. Vincent Medical Group (SVMG) is part of Ascension Health, the largest Catholic healthcare system in the United States. Highly-skilled Ascension physicians, nurses and staff meet a wide range of healthcare needs – body, mind and spirit – for people of all ages and walks of life. SVMG utilizes the CCMA training and work experience program to identify trained workers and determine their workplace skills prior to making a final hiring decision. Since last April, five people have received training or re-training.

Mindy Babbitt received a WorkOne Achievement Award for overcoming several employment barriers and personal challenges, and for pursuing a better life for herself.

Babbitt searched for jobs using Indiana Career Connect to find full-time employment at an appropriate wage to support her family. She used WorkINdiana funds to obtain her Microsoft Office certifications, as well as the WIA Incentive grant and WIOA funds to complete the work experience program. Babbitt was placed at Visit French Lick/West Baden Visitor’s Center, where after only 10 weeks of her 12-week placement, the supervisor made Mindy a full-time employment offer. She accepted, and has been working there for more than six months.
