Boat parade

Proud to be American 

Honor Our Military Boat Parade and Proud to be American celebration 

You are invited to attend our 15th Annual Honor our Military Boat Parade and Proud to Be American patriotic celebration in the park July 6 from 8:15 a.m. to 4 p.m. ET at Monticello City Park in Monticello. Military veterans, current active duty, Guard, Reserve and their families are invited to board the Madam Carroll for free and lead the parade of patriotic boats decorated for Independence Day. Watch the Hooligans Precision Flight Demonstration Team salute the Madam Carroll, then disembark and join the celebration in the park. The Jordan Express train will offer free rides and there will be games and face painting for children, as well as free hot dogs, watermelon and ice cream. Watch the skydivers drop in and see the Indiana University Health Lifeline helicopter land. The band Pastime will perform beginning at 2 p.m. To reserve your place on the Madam Carroll, call (574) 583-9784.

Hoops for Troops

Eat lunch, watch the Fever practice and hear a mental health awareness talk 11:30 a.m. to 2:45 p.m. ET July 17 at Bankers Life Fieldhouse 125 South Pennsylvania St. Indianapolis. Tuition and Fee Exemption changes

Effective July 1, the following changes to this state aid program will begin: 
1. If the child of the veteran is adopted, the adoption must have taken place before the age of 18.
2. The veteran must have resided in Indiana for a period of five years.
3. The child of the veteran must be less than 32 years of age.
4. The student will have eight academic years to use 124 credit hours.

USS Indianapolis Reunion and Open House

You are invited to join the Indiana War Memorials Foundation and the 74th USS Indianapolis CA-35 Survivors’ Reunion for a very special event beginning at 11:30 a.m. ET July 19 at the Indiana War Memorial 55 East Michigan St. Indianapolis. The event kicks off with a VIP reception. The commemorative event will include a luncheon, special tours of Indiana War Memorial USS Indianapolis exhibits and a special presentation of the PBS documentary USS Indianapolis: The Final Chapter.
