Take a walk on the canal and discover the USS Indianapolis CA35 granite memorial. Joseph Fischer designed this memorial, which was placed on the canal in 1995. The memorial is in the shape of the ship and the story of its' sinking, along with the names of those aboard. Of the 1,200 sailors on the last U.S. ship to sink in World War II, only 317 survived.
