The new system interchange at I-69 and I-465 is scheduled to open next month on the southwest side of Indianapolis, completing the interstate connection between southwest and central Indiana. Initial work began at the new interchange site in 2022 as part of the I-69 Finish Line project, which upgrades more than 26 miles of State Road 37 to interstate standards through Morgan, Johnson and Marion counties.
The new interchange consists of two flyover ramps connecting I-69 and I-465 just west of the existing SR 37/Harding Street interchange. South of I-465, newly constructed I-69 diverts from the current path of SR 37 north of Edgewood Avenue. SR 37, north of SR 144, will officially become I-69, upon opening of the interchange.
I-69 Finish Line is the sixth and final section of the I-69 connection between Evansville and Indianapolis. The corridor begins in Martinsville and ends in Indianapolis. Learn more about the project and subscribe to updates at I69FinishLine.com.
TRAFFIC ADVISORY: Drivers can expect increased construction activity in and around the I-69/I-465 system interchange in anticipation of opening to traffic. Construction work will continue at and near the system interchange through the end of 2024.
