Indiana will play a pivotal role in hosting eclipse enthusiasts as they flock to the Hoosier State to catch a glimpse of the first total solar eclipse in seven years on Monday, April 8, 2024.
The eclipse will affect the entire state and is anticipated to bring increased traffic and heavy congestion, especially within the path of totality.
As a result, the Indiana Department of Transportation is recommending all movement of oversize/overweight loads be completed the day before or day after the total eclipse (Sunday, April 7 or Tuesday, April 9). High traffic volumes and heavy congestion are expected on state roads the day of the eclipse.
For additional permit information, please visit the Indiana Department of Revenue website. Learn more about the total eclipse in Indiana at eclipse2024.in.gov.
