INDOT to host open houses for Statewide Transportation Improvement Program

The Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) announces opportunities to learn more and provide comments regarding the draft 2024-2028 Statewide Transportation Improvement Program (STIP). 

The STIP is Indiana's five-year planning and construction document that lists all projects and project phases expected to be funded within the next five years using federal funding, as required per Title 23, United States Code (USC). The STIP also includes state-funded projects that have been deemed Regionally Significant. The current STIP (2022-2026) and draft version of the  2024-2028 STIP are available here.

INDOT will host eight in-person open houses and two virtual presentations, where the public can learn more about upcoming transportation projects, provide comments and interact with agency personnel.

In-person open houses:

  • Wednesday, May 17 at the Marion Public Library (600 S. Washington St., Marion, IN),
    1 p.m. to 3 p.m. and 3:45 to 5:45 p.m.
  • Thursday, May 18 at the Broad Ripple Park Family Center (1426 Broad Ripple Ave., Indianapolis, IN), 1 to 3 p.m. and 5 to 7 p.m.
  • Wednesday, May 24 at the Dean and Barbara White Community Center (6600 Broadway, Merrillville, IN), 1 to 3 p.m. CT and 4 to 6 p.m. CT
  • Wednesday, May 31 at the Evansville Public Library - Central (200 SE Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd., Evansville, IN), 1 to 3 p.m. CT and 5 to 7 p.m. CT

Virtual presentations:

  • Thursday, June 1 via Microsoft Teams, 1 to 3 p.m. and 5 to 7 p.m.

All times are in Eastern Time unless otherwise noted. No registration is necessary for the in-person open houses. A recording of the virtual presentations will be available on INDOT's website after June 1.

The public comment period for the draft 2024-2028 STIP will be open from May 8 to June 22, 2023. Comments may be submitted in-person at an open house, via the online comment form, email (draftstip@indot.in.gov) or by mail (Indiana Department of Transportation Attn: Cat Seely, Planning Public Outreach Manager, 100 N. Senate Ave., N758-TE, Indianapolis, IN 46204).
